Queen Naija Gives Inside Look At How She Creates Her R&B Hits

Roommates, some fans would jump at the opportunity to be a fly on the wall while their favorite artist is cooking up new music! On Thursday, Queen Naija gifted her fans that chance via a series of posts to her Instagram Story. The R&B singer shared screen-recordings of an audio clip that lets fans into her songwriting process.

In the first clip posted, Queen is heard playing around with her voice before making a quick comment to someone else. The audio isn’t the best quality, but Queen’s soothing voice pushes through singing about cheating and being a “good friend” to her.

“This literally raw footage of my song writing process,” Queen Naija wrote in bold, white letters. “I just keep looping a melody over and over again and make up cadences.”

The featured audio recording is labeled “Pizza Hut” and has a runtime of three minutes and forty-three seconds. It appears that it was recorded earlier this year on June 8, to be exact.

In the second clip, Queen is still heard singing the word “cheating” and the phrase “friend to me.” In some parts, the audio is inaudible, but it’s clearly all part of her songwriting process. Queen also teases fans about a “revisit” to the “little Pizza Hut clip” in more white text added to the Instagram Story post.

By the third clip, Queen admits in written text that she “ain’t really making sense,” but confesses that she loves “the melody.” The declaration aligns with what her voice is giving in the clips! Her volume rises a little, almost as if she’s gaining excitement, towards the very end of the insider preview.

Her last commentary is a poll asking fans whether she should turn “Pizza Hut” into a song. She gave fans the options of “YESSS QUEEN” or “EHHH.”
