Jamila Woods Lines Up Heavn 10th Anniversary Tour

Music

Jamila Woods is celebrating the 10th anniversary of her debut album Heavn with a short Stateside tour. The jaunt starts in Los Angeles on November 16 and travels to cities including Portland and New York City before concluding with a hometown show in Chicago on December 6.

“Ten years ago today the OG SoundCloud version of HEAVN was born. My first child! The one who showed me a new version of myself / a portal to who I could be,” Woods wrote on Instagram. “Last night I found a journal entry from 2015, a year before the release. My band M&O had just broken up. I wondered how I would ever learn how to make music ‘on my own.’ Little did I know making music as a so called solo-artist would allow me to connect with even more people & build a deeper relationship with my city than I had before.” The critically acclaimed Heavn saw Woods delving into police violence, Black femmehood, and self-love over soothing R&B.
