Would Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons Return for a Reboot? He Says…

Jim Parsons has hung up Sheldon Cooper’s lab coat for the last time.

After portraying the award-winning physicist on The Big Bang Theory for 12 seasons between 2007 and 2019, the actor revealed he is unlikely to ever return to the role.

“I don’t believe I would do a reboot,” Jim said on the April 17 episode of The View. “I can’t say I miss him, partly because—especially 12 years on a TV show where they’re writing for this specific actor—there’s a lot of me in that. Not the genius part, but there’s a lot of me in that.”

Even though the 53-year-old—who won four Emmy Awards for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for playing Sheldon—has no plans to reprise the role, he recognizes the impact of the beloved character.

“There’s a lot about his qualities and just who he was that I still carry with me,” he continued. “The longer it goes on, I’m more and more surprised when people approach me about it. Not because I’m stupid, but because I’m like, oh, it makes sense, but I’m just not thinking about it.”

The Titaníque actor added of the fan interaction, “It’s always really sweet.”
