Bleach: Rebirth of Souls Trailer Reveals New Anime Fighting Game

Bandai Namco and developer Tamsoft announced Bleach: Rebirth of Souls with a trailer on Friday. There’s no release date yet, but the upcoming anime fighting game is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.

What is Bleach: Rebirth of Souls?

“Awaken the blade within you and reverse your fate in Bleach: Rebirth of Souls!” reads the blurb on Bandai Namco’s official site. “Engage in thrilling battles with powerful sword abilities and characters from this legendary anime franchise.” Each playable character boasts unique abilities, and fighters get stronger as their situation grows more desperate. “Overturn the tide of battle and unlock new forms and new blades to bring victory from the edge of defeat!” says Bandai Namco.

Fans can check out the Bleach: Rebirth of Souls trailer now on YouTube. The upcoming game features an original story from series creator Tite Kubo. However, Bandai Namco hasn’t revealed much else about it.

Bleach: Rebirth of Souls is not the first video game adaptation of the popular manga and anime series. However, it’s been quite a while since the last time it got a full console game release instead of porting a mobile game like the free-to-play Bleach: Brave Souls. Rebirth of Souls is also only the second Bleach game on Xbox and the first on current-gen systems.

The Bleach manga was published weekly in Shonen Jump from 2001 to 2016. It follows the adventures of Ichigo Kurosaki, who gains the supernatural abilities of a Soul Reaper. With these powers, he must protect humanity from evil undead spirits called Hollows.
