Severance Season 2 Wraps Production on Apple TV+ Series

Severance Season 2 has officially wrapped production on the highly anticipated next entry in the hit Apple TV+ drama series.

The news came in the form of an Instagram Story shared by Costume Designer Carol Deelay, who worked on the initial season of the series and presumably was working on the second season as well. Deelay shared a photo of a clapper board that read Severance Season 2 on it, as well as a caption that the show had wrapped production.

Production on Severance Season 2 came to a halt in May 2023 due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) and Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strikes. A release date for the new season has not yet been announced.

What is Severance about?

The first season of Severance premiered on Apple TV+ in February 2022. Created by Dan Erickson, the series stars Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, John Turturro, Tramell Tillman, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, and Dichen Lachman.

“In the first season, Mark Scout leads a team at Lumon Industries, whose employees have undergone a severance procedure, which surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives,” reads the synopsis. “This daring experiment in ‘work-life balance’ is called into question as Mark finds himself at the center of an unraveling mystery that will force him to confront the true nature of his work … and of himself.”

Severance Season 1 was nominated for 14 Primetime Emmy and Primetime Creative Arts Emmy Awards, winning Outstanding Main Title Design (Oliver Latta and Teddy Blanks) and Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) (Theodore Shapiro).

In November 2022, it was announced that Gwendoline Christie, Bob Balaban, Merritt Wever, Alia Shawkat, Robby Benson, Stefano Carannante, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson, and John Noble were all joining the cast of Severance Season 2. Details surrounding the characters they’ll play remain under wraps at this time.

The first season of Severance is currently streaming on Apple TV+.
