Sabrina Carpenter Swirls ‘Saltburn’ Into ‘Nonsense’ Outro in a Nod to Barry Keoghan at Coachella

Sabrina Carpenter has made changing up the outro of “Nonsense” a thing fans look forward to — and she did not disappoint with her latest update to the song at Coachella Friday night (April 19). Straight from the screenplay of Saltburn, she made a shameless lyrical reference to one of Barry Keoghan’s unforgettable scenes from the film at the festival.

“Man his knees so weak, he had to spread mine,” teased Carpenter to the “Nonsense” melody, just before hitting the Indio, California, crowd with this line: “He’s drinkin’ my bath water like it’s red wine.”

“Coachella, see you back here when I headline,” she said, wrapping up the outro with a tamer ending, a big grin and a wave. The singer-songwriter was on the bill for both weekends of Coachella 2024, with a mainstage time slot that came ahead of sets by Lil Uzi Vert, Peso Pluma and headliner Lana Del Rey.

Carpenter’s “drinkin’ my bath water” wordplay unmistakably points toward a quite shocking scene in the 2023 film directed by Emerald Fennell, which starred Jacob Elordi opposite Keoghan.

Carpenter is seemingly dating Keoghan, with the couple making their public debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars afterparty in March. While they did not officially pose side-by-side on the red carpet, they did walk it at the same time. During the party, Carpenter and Keoghan snapped a playful photo together off the carpet, hiding the bottoms of their faces with their hands in a way that obviously did not hide their identity nor the fact that they were at the party together.

At a Taylor Swift concert in Singapore in March where the Emails I Can’t Send artist was the opening act, fans also spotted Carpenter running into the actor’s arms for a big hug after leaving the Eras stage.
