Keith Urban and Breland Sing ‘Lean On Me’ Backstage at ‘Hometown Rising’ Benefit

Keith Urban and Breland were among the artists who performed at Monday night’s Loretta Lynn’s Friends: Hometown Rising, a benefit concert for victims of the deadly floods that struck Humphreys County, Tennessee in August. The two performed Bill Withers’ “Lean On Me” at the show, and for fans who couldn’t tune in or make it to the event, Urban posted a video clip of himself and Breland singing the song backstage.

“Lean on me,” wrote Urban in the caption. “If you’d still like to donate, you can text TNFLOODRELIEF to 44321. We love you @lorettalynnofficial!!”

In the video, Urban plays piano and provides harmony while Breland showcases his vocal power while singing the melody. Urban’s wife and actress Nicole Kidman can also be seen in the video, looking visibly in awe of the impromptu performance and even singing along at parts.

“So good singing with you! And for such a great cause,” Breland commented on the video.

In addition to singing with Breland, Urban performed his songs “Blue Ain’t Your Color” and “Wasted Time,” according to The Tennessean. He also autographed a guitar for auction and invited Kidman to the stage to say a few words. Breland performed his song, “Cross Country.” The star-studded show also featured performances from Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Brittany Spencer, Chris Janson, Luke Bryan, Reba McEntire, Little Big Town, and Luke Combs.

The Humphreys County floods on August 21, 2021 killed 20 people, including Loretta Lynn’s ranch foreman Wayne Spears. The show’s celebrity guitar auction raised $75,000 for the cause, thanks to the final bid by Garth Brooks. On Tuesday, Lynn posted a tribute video to Spears on her social media pages.

“Here’s my tribute to my sweet ranch foreman, Wayne,” she wrote. “Last night was amazing. I’m so grateful for my friends who helped me raise funds for my hometown at the Opry last night. I loved every second of the show!”
