CMA Summer Jam Special Will Air on ABC September 2

After putting the music back in Music City last night (July 28), organizers of the CMA Summer Jam have announced a date for its TV broadcast.

Coming to ABC on September 2, the three-hour live-performance special will feature some of country’s biggest stars, returning to one of Nashville’s biggest stages.

Filmed mostly at Ascend Amphitheater in downtown Nashville, CMA Summer Jam will feature Jimmie AllenGabby BarrettDierks BentleyBrothers OsborneLuke BryanLuke CombsFlorida Georgia LineMickey GuytonMiranda LambertCarly PearceBlake SheltonGwen StefaniCole SwindellThomas RhettCarrie UnderwoodLainey Wilson and Dwight Yoakam, all getting back onstage before an exuberant live audience.

Meanwhile, additional performances will include Bentley with BRELAND and HARDY live from Bentley’s Whiskey Row nightclub on Broadway; Eric Church from the center of the city’s John Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge overlooking the Cumberland River; and Darius Rucker taking the outdoor stage at Nashville’s brand new Fifth & Broadway complex downtown.

With the annual CMA Music Festival postponed for a second year in a row due to COVID-19, CMA Summer Jam was the first big all-hands-on-deck outdoor concert in Nashville since 2019, and something like a smaller version of that beloved three-day bonanza. But according to the Country Music Assiciation’s CEO, Sarah Trahern, it was from a consolation prize.

“I am still grinning ear to ear from these last two nights of incredible live Country Music,” she says in a press statement. “Seeing artists finally return to the stage and the reaction from fans was absolutely electric. Viewers are in for such a treat from familiar superstars and fresh new faces when ‘CMA Summer Jam’ airs on Sept. 2 on ABC.”
