Jason Aldean Drops Bonnie-and-Clyde Style Video for ‘Blame It On You’

Jason Aldean turns his latest single into a Bonnie-and-Clyde style drama, unveiling the official music video for “Blame It On You.”

Directed by Shaun Silva and filmed like a flashback to a time long ago, the clip follows the harrowing tale of a couple caught up in a moonshine ring, and leaves viewers thirsty for more.

Featuring classic cars, classic hairdos and plenty of card-playing criminals, the clip appears to be set in the American South sometime before World War II. It features a young couple falling in love under dangerous circumstances, pairing the rush of new love with the adrenaline of smuggling homemade liquor — and the wads of cash that lifestyle generates. But great rewards often come with big risks, and the couple are eventually forced apart through violent means.

It’s an interesting take on a track that’s all about regret, and taking responsibility for mistakes made. “Blame It On You” is the third single from Aldean’s 9 album, and was written by Michael Tyler, Kurt Allison, Tully Kennedy, John Edwards and Brian Gene White. Allison and Kennedy happen to be members of Aldean’s band, and with that in mind, the track’s heavy guitars and thundering sound share center stage with the forlorn country vocal.

I could blame it on the whiskey / I wouldn’t blame you if you didn’t even miss me, Jason Aldean sings in the track’s moody chorus. “I could say I never knew / I could drink around the truth / But I can’t blame it on you.”

“Blame It On You” follows “Got What I Got,” the second single from Aldean’s 9 album project and a Number One hit on Billboard’s Country Airplay Chart in 2020. The video also includes a subtle reference to Wolf Moon Bourbon, a brand which Aldean created in partnership with Florida Georgia Line.
