Sofía Vergara Just Pitched The Perfect Way To Bring “Modern Family” Back

Sofía Vergara Pitched Bringing “Modern Family” Back As A TV Movie

Sofía Vergara may have recently scored an Emmy nomination for her dramatic turn in Netflix’s Griselda. Still, the actor is making it clear she’d happily return to one of her most iconic comedic roles.

Sofía received critical acclaim for the role and is up for Best Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie when the Emmys take place on Sept. 15. She discussed this and more in a new Variety cover story.

But that’s not all she talked about. Sofía didn’t shy away from discussing her enduring fondness for Modern Family, especially her fellow cast members. She starred for 11 seasons alongside Ed O’Neill, Julie Bowen, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Ty Burrell, Eric Stonestreet, Sarah Hyland, Rico Rodriguez, Nolan Gould, and Ariel Winter.

After all, the show was a major boon for the actor who played Gloria Delgado-Pritchett. She became a household name and garnered four Emmy nominations.

In fact, Sofía has such an affinity for her time on the show that she revealed an eagerness for the series to return…at some point and in some way.

“I’d die to be on that set,” she told the publication. “It’d be so much fun.”

Notably, Sofía even suggested a way for the show to come back: “A TV movie maybe?”

But don’t get your hopes up that a full-cast Modern Family reunion is coming anytime soon. Variety reported that the actor thinks it’s too soon to bring the show back.

Still, Sofía revealed a joke she has with Ed O’Neill, who played Gloria’s husband, Jay Pritchett, in case the show does come back in some way.

“I always joke with him,” she said. “‘Ed, don’t die. Because if we do the sequel, it will take some time, and you’re the oldest of us. You can’t be dead!'”
