Emma Stone Revealed How She Almost Met Her “Kinds Of Kindness” Costar Jesse Plemons Nearly 20 Years Ago

Emma Stone, Jesse Plemons Were Almost On A Show Together

On Thursday, Emma stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to promote her new film and chat about some recent wins in her life. While doing so, she revealed she auditioned for the popular sports drama series Friday Night Lights, which is where Jesse landed his first leading role in a TV show.

“When I was auditioning in LA when I was, I think I was 15 at the time, I got a couple of callbacks for Friday Night Lights,” Emma said.

Emma went out for the role of Coach Eric Taylor’s (Kyle Chandler) daughter, Julie Taylor, who was ultimately played by Aimee Teegarden.

“I was totally devastated that it didn’t work out,” Emma added. “And it would’ve been so crazy if I had met Jesse back then.”

“But then we met, I don’t know, 20 years later on this [Kinds of Kindness].”

For those unfamiliar with the show, Jesse starred as Landry Clarke on Friday Night Lights — a nerdy, good-hearted kid who joins the football team after his best friend becomes the quarterback.

Despite them almost crossing paths in the 2006 series, Yorgos Lanthimos’s Kinds of Kindness is Emma and Jesse’s first project together and, according to Emma, it won’t be their last.

Emma revealed that she and Jesse will star together once again in Yorgos’s next movie, Bugonia, which begins filming next week.

Although she gave no further details on it, we can’t wait to see the magic they create! For more of Emma, be sure to check out her full Tonight Show interview below.
