Keith Urban is getting back on tour in a big way in 2022, announcing the massive Speed of Now World Tour as his first globetrotting trek in four years.
Marking Urban’s return to the road after two year absence due to COVID-19, which found him only performing select shows, on TV or in virtual formats, the country superstar announced his news in with a charming video filmed in his backyard.
Named after 2020’s The Speed of Now Part 1 album, the North American leg of Urban’s tour will feature a massive run of some fifty shows with Ingrid Andress, kicking off June 17 in Tampa Florida. Bouncing from coast to coast and everywhere in between, the trek will include stops at Toronto’s Budweiser Stage (July 8-9), The Wharf Amphitheater in Orange Beach, Alabama (August 6), The Forum in Los Angeles (September 10), Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena (October 7) and more, joining previously announced dates in Australia, Germany, Netherlands and the U.K.
According to Urban, it’s all an opportunity to perform his latest music for the first time, and he’s chomping at the bit to get back on the road.
“Every night is the first time we’ve played these songs for that audience, in that moment,” he says. “It’s why every show is different – spontaneous and unpredictable – even for us! After two years we’re finally gonna get the chance to play some of the new songs we haven’t done live before. We’ll throw in a bunch of the songs that everyone comes to hear, a couple of which we’ll rework a bit, and it’s really gonna be tough to get us off the stage.”
The trip will also feature a few firsts for the accomplished superstar, including his first concerts in Ft. Worth, Texas, and Savannah, Georgia, plus shows in Knoxville, Tennessee; Charleston, South Carolina; and Madison, Wisconsin, where he hasn’t played in nearly a decade.
“I’ve always considered myself a live performer first,” says Urban. “It’s what I’ve always done and it’s what my music needs to live and breathe. Our shows are all about living in the moment. They’re a totally interactive and immersive experience where everyone can participate in whatever way they want – sing, dance, do whatever.”
Keith Urban’s The Speed of Now World Tour will follow the May 27-29, 2022, dates of his Las Vegas residency at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, and tickets go on sale December 10 at 10 am PT.
