UK Based Tash Hagz Releases New Single

Tash Hagz is a British based Singer/Songwriter, who pontificates his status as being, a “part time,” musician. While it may be a tongue in cheek description, it’s also more than possible that Music is simply a hobby for Tash. The only caveat is that he is really good at it. His newest single, “The Ballad Of Sanaleigh” is a combination of surrealism and 60’s style Psychedelic Pop. In fact, Tash Hagz has channeled such an uncommon authenticity, that he comes across sounding like a time traveler.

While little is known about Tash Hagz early life, it would seem he has been writing his own music, for many years. It’s obvious that his musical diet, heavily consisted of The Fab Four, but when they were more groovy than fab. It’s somewhat rare to find an artist who willfully ventures into psychedelic territory. While many use it as a sort of seasoning to more traditional genres, psychedelia, in and of itself, doesn’t exactly bring a densely built in audience. While popularity isn’t Tash’s primary motivation, his name of course is a nod to a particular social media platform.

“The Ballad Of Sanaleigh,” goes a little over 4 minutes, but feels more epic, in a good way. When you reach the climax of the song, you sort of wonder how you got there. The structure of the piece is a firm nod to Tash’s nonlinear brilliance. There’s simply so few who are composing this style of music, that we tend to forget it exists. Because we are so far removed from the bevy of innovators that influenced Tash Hagz, “The Ballad Of Sanaleigh,” has the potential to sound remarkably radical.

The one derivative of this track, is Tash Hagz’s vocal approach. This is an example of his influences, getting the better of him. We are products of what we consume, and there is no harm in Tash Hagz, paying a slightly less than subtle tribute to his heroes. Besides, the arrangement of “The Ballad Of Sanaleigh,” could only be the work of Tash Hagz. There is a section around the 3 minute mark that will almost certainly be one of the most memorable takeaways of the entire song.

“The Ballad Of Sanaleigh” is the type of track you have to repeatedly revisit, to start to form any coherent impression of. You will then realize that coherency, actually has no place in the universe that Tash Hagz has created with this piece. However, it isn’t lacking in story or meaning. It’s just a song that is adhering to the laws of psychedelia. The laws of psychedelia are to be free to create from whatever energy is consuming you. It’s the one genre that permits us to be isochronously spiritual and intellectual, without forsaking the other. While it’s still too early to cast Tash Hagz as a modern day liberator, he is certainly charting his own path. Based on the strength of “The Ballad Of Sanaleigh,” it’s a path worth taking.
