Cody Johnson Preaches a Powerful Life Lesson in ”Til You Can’t’ Video

Cody Johnson teaches a powerful life lesson in his new single, “‘Til You Can’t,” with the former bull rider giving new urgency to phrase “take life by the horns.” And in its official music video, fans are reminded of why that’s so important.

As Johnson’s current single, the inspiring anthem is all about seizing the moment and never looking back, full of authentic country wisdom and a sound to match — but it comes with a warning which the heart-wrenching video brings into focus. One day, the time to live those moments will be gone for good.

Out now, Johnson’s new clip follows the song’s plot, featuring afternoon fishing excursions, classic-car rebuilding sessions, family dinners and other easy-to-put-off moments that wind up meaning so much more. Meanwhile, the story is interspersed with shots of Johnson delivering a fiery solo performance of the song, letting loose in a fury of live-while-you-can emotion.

“If you got a chance, take it, take it while you got a chance / If you got a dream, chase it, ’cause a dream won’t chase you back / If you’re gonna love somebody / Hold ‘em as long and as strong and as close as you can / ‘Til you can’t,” goes the chorus.

“The message in this song is something so simple yet so hard to put into action every day of your life,” Johnson says. “I love the story line in the video. You think it’s going in one direction and then suddenly you are surprised at the turn of events. When they sent me the rough edit of the video it was so powerful and brought tears to my eyes. It put into perspective the song that I had been singing for months.”

“‘Til You Can’t” was written by Ben Stennis and Matt Rogers, and is featured on Johnson’s recently released Human The Double Album. It’s also out now at country radio, the follow up to 2020’s “Dear Rodeo” featuring Reba McEntire and 2018’s Platinum certified “On My Way to You.”

On November 19, Johnson will release his first holiday album, A Cody Johnson Christmas, and the longtime independent Texas phenom traces his path to mainstream stardom in the feature-length documentary, Dear Rodeo: The Cody Johnson Story.
