Cole Swindell, Laine Hardy and Others React to Devastating Impact of Hurricane Ida

As Hurricane Ida makes landfall on the Gulf Coast in Louisiana and surrounding states, many country music stars are sending their thoughts and prayers to those in the path of the storm.

Hurricane Ida, which was rated as a Category 4 storm upon landfall, first hit the town of Port Fourchon, Louisiana, at 11:55 a.m. local time on Sunday (August 28). Hundreds of thousands of citizens are without power within Louisiana, and flooding has wreaked havoc all across the area. The storm has since been downgraded to a Category 3 hurricane at the time of publishing.

Cole Swindell expressed his sadness over the situation, sending his best thoughts via Twitter to everyone affected by the destructive storm.

“Thinking about the state of Louisiana and everyone in Ida’s path.. scary stuff,” Swindell wrote.

Laine Hardy, who is a Louisiana native, retweeted a serious message from the state’s lieutenant governor along with his own comments of sorrow.

“Hurricane Ida makes its landfall in the next few hours. Please pray for the people of Louisiana. Stay safe out there y’all. I wish I could be there to help everyone. Y’all are heavy on my heart & on my mind today. #Louisiana#hurricanida#LouisianaStrong,” he said.

Michael Ray chimed in on the same sentiment, sending out a simple Tweet himself.

“My Prays are with everyone in the path Of Ida and surrounding areas,” Ray said.

Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards asked the White House to declare Hurricane Ida as a major disaster. There has been no official word on how many deaths or injuries have been reported as a result of the storm.
