Seth Ennis Makes His Return With New Single, ‘U-Turn’

Seth Ennis is making a good night last a little longer in his new single, “U-Turn,” out today (June 18). In the flirtatious love song, which is peppered with smooth R&B and pop influences, Ennis drops a date off at home after a night out and immediately feels the need to turn back around for more time together. Ennis sings to the subject of his affection in the tune, as he searches his vehicle for anything she left behind that would give him an excuse to see her again. The upbeat tune is fun-loving in nature and one that Ennis says has already made a mark at his live shows.

“‘U-Turn’ is one I’ve been ready to get out for a while,” Ennis tells Sounds Like Nashville. “I played it on the Dylan Scott tour in my set and every night by the last chorus the fans were singing it back to me like it was already out so I took that as a sign that I probably needed to record it when I got back to Nashville! I called two of my best friends Jordan Schmidt and Zach Abend to tag team producing this one and I think it came out perfect. I tried to capture the way we played it live on tour and mix that with the R&B style demo that everyone fell in love with when I wrote it with Alysa Vanderheym and Brett Tyler.”

“U-Turn” also marks a turn of sorts in Ennis’ career journey, as it’s the second song released by the singer since his departure from former record label, Arista Records. Ennis’ last single with his former label was released in 2018, and this past April, he addressed his absence, apologizing to fans for falling “off the face of the earth.”

“I went through a through a mentally dark patch and didn’t really know if I wanted to keep putting music out as an artist,” Ennis shared on social media.

“Now for the happy part,” he continued. “I’m back and couldn’t be happier about the music I get to put out now.”

After the announcement of his return to music, Ennis released “I Still Do.” In a May 3rd Instagram post, he also announced he and wife Janna are expecting a child together.
