Dan + Shay Play ‘Glad You Exist’ for a Live Crowd at iHeartRadio Awards

Dan + Shay gave viewers some genuine musical appreciation on the 2021 iHeartRadio Music Awards Thursday night (May 27), performing their mood boosting thank-you anthem, “Glad You Exist.”

Taking place in front of a live audience at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, the upbeat-country moment found Dan + Shay on a stage decked out with pink-blossomed trees and large video screens, which displayed pictures of loving couples and friends.

It was the perfect peaceful setting for Shay Mooney’s stratospheric vocal to soar through a tribute to the people we share our lives with — making the performance feel like a big sonic hug. All about being grateful for each other, the feel-good anthem was unveiled as the COVID-19 pandemic raged, and now that the return of country concerts is close, the theme seems all the more special.

“There’s a couple billion people in the world / And a million other places we could be, but you’re here with me / Take a moment just to take it in / ‘Cause every high and every low led to this / I’m just so glad you exist,” goes the warm and fuzzy chorus.

“Glad You Exist” by Dan + Shay has found its way into the Top 10 on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, the latest hit from a duo who have begun to expand their reach way beyond country. Thursday night’s ceremony was more proof of that, since Dan + Shay were named Best Duo/Group in an all-genre category that also included megastars like BTS, the Jonas Brothers, Maroon 5 and Twenty One Pilots.
