Roommates, it seems like everyone is feeling Soul Sonic’s chart-topping hit song “Leave The Door Open”—and legendary choreographer Laurieann Gibson loves it so much that she had to get a little freestyle dance session in while playing it in the background. Dressed in all black with a crop top and biker shorts, Laurieann Gibson put on her 4-inch heels and gave fans a quick refresher course about why she is one of the best choreographers in the business.
If you follow Laurieann Gibson on social media, then you know that she regularly and frequently posts videos of herself dancing. So, it was no surprise when she decided to post a video to Instagram of her killing it to “Leave The Door Open,” which was the perfect sexy, sultry jam for her to show off her sensual moves.
Laurieann has choreographed for some of the biggest stars in music ad became a star in her own right during her memorable time on the MTV iconic reality series “Making The Band.” However, in a recent interview, she revealed that things weren’t always smooth in the industry as a Black dancer.
While promoting her new book, “Dance Your Dance: 8 Steps To Unleash Your Passion And Live Your Dream,” she spoke about some of the discrimination she endured. “There was a time that left scars of insecurity, doubt and fear and I had to fight through those situations when I felt alone in the room, felt discriminated against, [or] I was too Black or not Black enough,” she said.
Now that we know Laurieann Gibson still has her signature dance moves, we want to know what’s up with the previously announced reboot of “Making The Band” that included executive producer and star Sean “Diddy” Combs, his sons Justin and Christian…and also Laurieann. The pandemic brought things to a halt after the initial auditions, but we hope things pick back up.
