Michael Rainey Jr. Shares Video Of An Encounter With A Police Officer, Says The Recording Of The Incident Saved His Life

We always hear and see stories of Police Officers abusing their power, but you never expect it to happen to you or someone you know. Unfortunately, today Michael Rainey Jr., aka Tariq from the hit show ‘Power,’ shared a video of his encounter with a police officer. In the video he shared on his Instagram story, viewers were able to clearly see the exchange as a seemingly non-uniformed African American male aggressively approached Michael’s driver side window with his hand on his gun.

The officer quickly instructed Michael to give him his driver’s license. Michael complied and replied, letting the officer know he was looking for his license without any hesitation. An unidentified man who was sitting in the passenger seat noticed his grip on the gun and asked him if he could remove his hand from the gun. In the video, Michael wrote a lengthy message detailing more about the incident. He wrote, “This guy was about to shoot me. I swear that camera saved my life. Look at what he does as soon as he looks into the lens. Someone, please send his precinct or whatever info you know.”

He continued, “These power-tripping a*s police need their badge taken away. Unlawful traffic stop. Didn’t even pull me over. Didn’t tell me what I was being pulled for. He just came to the whip yelling and s**t with his hand on his gun. This guy also said stop reaching while I was looking for my license. I guess he was looking for a reason to shoot me.”

In another video he shared on his story, he alleged that the whole incident occurred because he drove a nice car, AKA “Driving While Black.” We are happy that nothing more happened in this incident and are sending positive vibes to Michael.
