De La Soul Announces NYC Show Featuring ‘Choose-What-You-Pay’ Ticketing Model

De La Soul announced plans for a New York City concert at the top of 2025, and they’re taking an atypical approach to ticketing options for the show.

The Grammy-winning crew has employed a “Choose-What-You-Pay” model for fans looking to purchase tickets to the Jan. 17 show at Lincoln Center’s David Geffen Hall. According to the Lincoln Center’s website, fans are suggested to pay $35 per ticket, but will have options to pay more and less depending on what they want to do.

“To make the arts more accessible, tickets are available on a Choose-What-You-Pay basis,” the website reads. “There is a suggested ticket price of $35.00, as well as options to pay more or less.”

Per Brooklyn Vegan, it’s De La Soul’s first NYC show in 16 months. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale starting on Sept. 5 with the general public having their chance on Sept. 12.

Before returning home to New York in January, De La has a handful of festival dates that will take the Long Island-bred group to the West Coast and north of the border as well as across the pond for shows in the U.K., France, Belgium and more.

2023 proved to be an emotional rollercoaster of a year with the passing of co-founder Trugoy the Dove (born David Jolicoeur) at the age of 54. Following years of internal conflicts and label issues, De La Soul’s first six studio albums hit streaming services for the first time in March 2023.

The crew made a splash with their streaming debut while registering 12.5 million official on-demand U.S. song streams in the week ending March 9 and sold 28,000 albums, according to Luminate.
