After Her Ex Retracted Claims About Them Being In A Cult, Kehlani Shared A New Statement About Their Custody Battle

Kehlani Shares New Statement On Custody Battle

Kehlani is speaking out after much speculation about their personal life.

Brief recap: Earlier this week, it emerged that Javaughn Young-White, the father of Kehlani’s 5-year-old daughter Adeya Nomi, had filed court documents last month alleging that the singer is in a “cult.”

Since then, the situation has gotten much more complicated. Kehlani issued a statement soon after the filing became public, stating that “What has been published in the media over the past 24 hours is incredibly hurtful, inaccurate, inappropriate, and simply untrue.”

After accusing TMZ of publishing “factually incorrect” information about the case, Javaughn publicly retracted claims in his suit about Kehlani having been a member of a cult. “These documents contained general recollections from my initial consultation with my aforementioned rep,” he posted on Instagram. “They were filed with choice language I didn’t okay. I regret they were included.”

Earlier today, Kehlani shared a new statement on Instagram addressing the continued conversation around the case, and why they won’t be talking about it too much for the time being.

“My silence is focus,” they wrote. “I am focused on my daughter. I’m tired of my silence being framed as anything but. My daughter & the work I have to continue so her life remains as wonderful as it is, is my focus.”

“I have no ill wishes even for those who have ill wishes towards me. I’m a mother first and foremost, and a person who believes in God. This has all taught me lessons about discernment, privacy & focus.”

“Back to what’s important, I hope to see you on tour.”
