BTS member Jimin’s new song ‘Slow Dance’: Who is Sofia Carson?

BTS star Jimin will feature Descendants star Sofia Carson in the song “Slow Dance.” While Sofia Carson is not an unfamiliar name for Disney fans, many K-pop fans are curious to know more about the actress as she prepares to appear in Jimin’s album.

Sofia Carson started acting as a guest star on the Disney series Austin & Ally. However, it was not until 2015 that she got her first big break in the Disney musical Descendants. In the famous franchise, she played the role of Evie, the daughter of Evil Queen.

Carson also kept her momentum intact, appearing in the sequels of Descendants. She was featured in Descendants: Wicked World, Descendants 2, Descendants 3, and Descendants: The Royal Wedding.

Apart from her work as an actress, she gained recognition for her stunning vocals when she sang for the 2015 Descendants musical soundtrack. So far, the 31-year-old actress has worked on four soundtrack albums for Descendants and Netflix’s Purple Hearts. She released her first self-titled studio album in 2022.

Following her 2022 album release, the BTS ARMY looks forward to her collaboration with Jimin on the track “Slow Dance.” The actress announced the surprising news on Instagram with a teasing message, writing, “can’t wait to slow dance with you.”

Sofia Carson’s best songs & movies

From Purple Hearts to Descendants, Sofia Carson has earned her place as one of the most popular Disney stars. She has struck a thriving balance between dividing her time for music and acting. The 31-year-old has also snagged several nominations and awards for her significant roles.

Sofia Carson’s most famous work is Netflix’s Purple Hearts, in which she plays the main character, Cassandra “Cassie” Salazar. In the film, she portrays a waitress/bartender who wants to be a singer and join a band. However, Cassie is also diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, and being able to afford Insulin is becoming a struggle. So she proposes a fake marriage with Marine boy Luke, whom she met while serving at the bar.

The story unveils how Luke and Cassie’s “fake marriage” eventually becomes real as the duo faces several obstacles that threaten to make them stay apart forever. Romantic comedy fans who love happy endings enjoyed the movie’s conclusion, as the pair shows how nothing can stop them from being together.

Carson’s role in Purple Hearts brought her the Best Musical Moment at the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards. She also won the trophy of Global Music Award for her song “Applause” at the 2023 Ischia Global Fest.

Apart from her filmography, Sofia has delivered multiple hit singles. Some of her chart-performing songs include the 2022 releases “Come Back To Me” and “Applause.” “Come Back To Me” made it to Billboard’s US Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at 22.
