N.O.R.E Shuts Down Rumor That His Comments About Rappers Not Supporting Black Media Were About Cardi B

N.O.R.E. had the streets talking and speculating which rappers he was talking about when he called out artists for not supporting Black media. However, the rapper and co-host of ‘Drink Champs’ is clearing the air and making it known that his recent comments aren’t about Cardi B. If you recall, on Wednesday, he tweeted, “I have been the best to this culture I have always put hip-hop first. I see you guys go to Ellen and David Letterman’s and Zane Lows and treat them with more respect than the culture, but you say you want Black excellence.”

He continued, “David Letterman is my favorite, but man, why go there or to Ellen before ‘Million Dollaz Worth of Game’ or Joe or the champs or even twitter s**!!”

Many felt he was talking about Cardi because of her recent appearance on David’s Netflix series, ‘My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.’ Earlier today, N.O.R.E. put all concerns to rest and retweeted a headline from All Hip Hop regarding his comments. The podcaster responded by tweeting, “Love, it wasn’t even talking about Cardi but love the article.”

All Hip Hop wasn’t the only media out who was talking about N.O.R.E. The Breakfast Club also discussed N.O.R.E.’s comments this morning. Charlamagne Tha God elaborated on N.O.R.E.’s comments claiming a lot of artists and labels treat non-urban platforms with more respect.

“The publicist and label will come to Black outlets and say, ‘Don’t ask this. Don’t ask that.’ But when they sit with the white outlets, they will say, ‘we are open to discuss anything.’ So that to me is where the respect is because you are giving these white outlets the soundbites that go viral, and you make those persons platforms bigger,” he said.

The show’s co-hosts, D.J. Envy and Angela Yee, also chimed in and explained that Cardi is the opposite of what the ‘Drink Champs’ host was referring to. “Cardi does a lot of the things that a lot of artists won’t do. I do feel that when artists blow up, they don’t go to a lot of the places that helped them get there, and they start doing the crossover thing, and I think that’s wack,” Envy said.
