Mickey Guyton to Sing National Anthem at Super Bowl LVI

Grammy nominated country star Mickey Guyton will hit the field at the biggest football game in the world, singing the National Anthem at Super Bowl LVI on February 13.

Revealing the news in a social media post Tuesday (February 1), the singer-songwriter was overcome with joy — and surprise.

“👏🏾Look👏🏾at👏🏾God,” she wrote on Instagram. “I am shook, I am grateful, I am praise dancing… So excited to be singing the national anthem at #SBLVI on February 13th! @nfl @nbcsports”

The 2022 National Football League Super Bowl will feature the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams, and for the second year in a row, it will be a home game of sorts for one team. Kickoff is at 6:30 ET on NBC from Los Angeles’ Sofi Stadium, on the same field that hosts the Rams in the regular season. Last year found the Tampa Bay Buccaneers playing on their home field.

Other performers booked for the massive event include Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige and Kendrick Lamar, who will take the stage for the game’s always-spectacular halftime show.

By singing the anthem (in front of a TV audience in the millions), Mickey Guyton will be joining a very select group of stars. Last year featured Jazmine Sullivan and country star Eric Church, and previous anthem singers include Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, Garth Brooks, Billy Joel, Faith Hill, and of course, Whitney Houston.
