Dolly Parton Will Soon Join Her ‘9 to 5′ Co-Stars on ‘Grace and Frankie’

The onscreen chemistry between country icon Dolly Parton and her 9 to 5 co-stars, Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda, helped make the film a true comedy classic back in 1980 — and now the trio is getting back together.

Parton will reportedly make a guest appearance on Tomlin and Fonda’s Netflix show, Grace and Frankie, helping bring the show to a close.

According to Deadline, Parton will guest star in the long-running show’s series finale, which is set for next year. Grace and Frankie launched seven seasons ago with the title characters’ lives being upended when their respective husband’s both come out as gay — and then leave their wives for each other — and the hit show has actually become Netflix’s longest-running original series. Production on the series capper apparently wrapped up last week, and although no details on Parton’s character or the plot have been revealed, you can bet that 9 to 5 magic will still be there.

The first four episodes of the seventh and final season of Grace and Frankie are available for streaming now, and the final 12 episodes will premiere in 2022 on Netflix.

After launching into the global mainstream with 9 to 5 in 1980, Dolly Parton has gone on the play many onscreen roles over the years — including starring in the Netflix movie Christmas On the Square last year. Meanwhile, her country empire continues to expand with the 75-year-old continuing to record music and explore new creative outlets.

Parton recently teamed up with fellow country superstar Reba McEntire for the first time ever on a new version of McEntire’s famed “Does He Love You” — which she originally sang with Linda Davis. And next March, Run, Rose, Run will be released. Co-written with blockbuster thriller author James Patterson, it marks Parton’s first novel and will be accompanied by a 12-track album of original songs.
