Shoot-from-the-hip country trio Pistol Annies are set to release their first Christmas album this year, with Hell of a Holiday arriving on October 22. And with an early gift to fans, they’ve shared a taste of how they’re shaking up seasonal tunes on “Snow Globe.”
Written by the all-star trio’s Miranda Lambert, Ashley Monroe and Angaleena Presley, “Snow Globe” takes a fresh approach to Christmas cheer — and it’s just one of 10 new originals on the Hell of Holiday album. With a rhythm that bounces with early-rock-n-roll joy and a smiling, sugar-sweet vocals from each singer, it’s all about capturing a perfect love and keeping it forever, and like many of the best songs, Pistol Annies say it happened incredibly fast.
“We wrote “Snow Globe” on a lunch break while we were in the studio recording ‘Hell of A Holiday,’” they wrote on Instagram, along with in-studio footage of them recording the upbeat tune. “We had so much fun with it we went ahead and put it on the album!”
It’s just a stocking stuffer compared to all Pistol Annies have in store, and elsewhere the album is said to include a whole family of “country-fied” characters, a new ode to Santa Claus and more of their signature winking sass. Hell of a Holiday is the fourth studio album from the trio, and the follow-up to their Grammy-nominated 2018 project, Interstate Gospel. Check out the track list and credits below.
