Newcomer Ashley Cooke makes her studio debut with an eight-song EP today (August 27), dropping Already Drank That Beer, Side A.
Produced by Jimmy Robbins, features Cooke’s smoky vocals and modern-country sound, the project includes tracks written by top hitmakers like Craig Wiseman, Jessie Jo Dillon, Jessie Alexander, Nicolle Galyon, and more. Cooke co-wrote five of the fresh tunes, and even teams up with fellow country artist Jimmie Allen for “Good Goodbye.”
A graduate of Nashville’s Belmont University who won the coveted Belmont Country Showcase in 2019, Cooke has also released tracks like “Sunday Morning Kinda Saturday Night,” and the “fan-favorite” single, “Under.” Seeking to show her musical dexterity and relatable themes, Cooke says the project is her first full body of work — hinting that there’s more to come.
“I can’t wait to finally have a project out in the world,” she shared ahead of the EP’s release. “These songs are pages out of my journal put to music. They’re my stories over the last year or so, and they feel like an extension of me. I hope people find themselves in them and love them as much as I do.”
