Parmalee released their third major label studio album, For You, on July 30th, and within the album is upbeat love song, “Take My Name.” The tune, which was released prior to the album as an instant grat track in July, finds lead singer Matt Thomas proposing to a love interest by asking her to “take my name and make it yours.” Alongside these romantic lyrics penned by Thomas, Ashley Gorley, David Fanning and Ben Johnson are upbeat country elements and modern beats. The group also released a visualizer video which shows the band performing the song in a rustic room. Lead singer Thomas stands in the front of the group as he sings the poetic lyrics and catchy melody.
The song is one that will undoubtedly make the list for wedding songs this year, and Thomas says the tune was inspired by his brother and band member Scott Thomas’s marriage to Lexia Chamryk in November.
“‘Take My Name’ was inspired by my brother Scott getting married last year,” Thomas told Sounds Like Nashville. “It made me sit back and think about what I would want to say to my future wife.”
“Take My Name” is just one of 13 tracks featured on Parmalee’s For You album. The band released “Greatest Hits (feat. Fitz)” as a bonus song in July and the project also features their No. 1 hit, “Just The Way,” with Blanco Brown. Matt Thomas wrote 12 of the album’s 13 tracks and other songwriters on the album include band members Barry Knox, Josh McSwain and Scott Thomas as well as Tyler Hubbard, Corey Crowder, Michael Tyler, and more. For You is Parmalee’s first studio album since their 2017 offering, 27861, and according the Thomas, it’s been worth the wait for fans.
“The response to our album For You has been nothing but positive,” says Thomas. “We put everything we had into this record and we did it for the fans and it really seems to be connecting just like we hoped it would.”
