Ryan Hurd Reminds Fans to Go With the Flow on ‘Coast’

Emerging country star Ryan Hurd preaches the wisdom of going with the flow in his new track, “Coast,” a grooving new tune released over the weekend (July 30).

Perfect for the dog days of summer — or honestly, just being in a summertime state of mind — the relaxed-fit jam features a satisfying wind-blown sway, and a message made for chilling out. It’s all about taking your foot off of the metaphorical gas, then letting life roll in like the tide.

Co-written by the artist-on-the-rise with with Aaron Eshuis — who also produced the song — “Coast” arrives as a breezy summer-country midtempo, with sandy vocals and an uber-carefree vibe. Matching its free-and-easy theme, Hurd’s lyrics are aimed at making any day feel like a romantic beachside vacation … and the first step in that process is just slowing down.

“Laid out on the west one underneath the red sun / You and the sand getting hotter / We’ll make our own Pelago, Michigan, Chicago / Baby, dip your toes in the water / One wave at a time, your lips on mine / Baby, take it real slow / Point it where the wind blows and just coast,” goes the grooving chorus.

Out now after first making waves on TikTok, Hurd has released the song alongside a beachy music video, and it follows what is quickly becoming the singer-songwriter’s breakout hit.

After first penning chart toppers for other artists like Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan, “Coast” follows the successful release of “Chasing After You” (featuring Hurd’s wife and fellow country star, Maren Morris). The red-hot couple performed the steamy duet onstage at the 56th annual ACM Awards back in April, and it’s currently approaching the Top 20 at country radio.
