Dylan Scott Turns a Romantic Corner With ‘New Truck’

Dylan Scott has a big problem. The rising country star needs a new truck — and he needs it now — since the one he’s got needs to go.

Marking the Louisiana native’s next radio single, his “New Truck” arrives as a hard-hitting heartbreak anthem with a 4×4 setup, and a theme that would bring any truck lover to tears. It’s time for Scott to turn a romantic corner.

Written by Hardy, Ashley Gorley, Ben Johnson and Hunter Phelps, the clever country track is all about a guy in need a new ride. But not because his current truck is old, or because the motor is shot. No, it’s actually barely even broken in, with at least another 100,000 miles left on it. The problem is what it’s hauling — memories of all the good times between he and his ex.

With a heart-thumping beat and regret swirling around Scott’s quick-hitting vocal, the chart topper decides it’s better to just ditch this truck and start all over — rather than face the pain every day. What a shame.

“The first time I heard ‘New Truck,’ it sounded different than anything else I was listening to,” Scott says in the song’s official announcement. “We’ve all been in a situation where you and your significant other have broken up, and it’s tough. Every time you get back in your truck, you go back to certain memories of them in there as well. So this song is saying, ‘Man, I need a new truck to quit thinking about her.’”

“New Truck” was produced by Will Weatherly, Matt Alderman, Curt Gibbs and Jim Ed Norman, and Dylan Scott is hoping it connects with fans as much as his last few songs. With “My Girl,” “Hooked,” “Nothing to Do Town” and “Nobody,” he’s scored two Platinum and two Gold certifications, placing three songs inside the Top 5 of Billboard’s Country Airplay chart — and one at Number One.

Scott is currently performing on Luke Bryan’s Proud to Be Right Here Tour, which just stopped in Nashville and featured a surprise visit by Morgan Wallen. On October 23, he’ll headline his third annual Bayou Stock fundraising festival, back home in Louisiana.
