Coco Austin Defends Breastfeeding Her 5-Year-Old Daughter Chanel

Ice T’s wife Coco Austin is adamant about normalizing nursing. She recently explained her decision to continue to breastfeed her and Ice’s 5-year-old daughter, Chanel.

“Chanel still likes my boobs,” Coco told US Weekly. “It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child.”

Coco explained that Chanel still likes to nurse, which appears to be a big factor in Coco’s decision to continue breastfeeding.

“Why take that away from her? … If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”

This isn’t the first time Coco has addressed breastfeeding as a social issue. She previously stated in an Instagram post she made in March 2020 that Chanel nursed “for comfort,” explaining, “Believe me, the girl loves meat so it’s not like she isn’t eating real food. Thank you to all that understand my view. I see most of you are so eager to side with me and I too root for you in your journey as well. Us moms are connected.”

Breastfeeding isn’t the only thing Coco talked about when it comes to her parenting style.

Apparently, young Chanel also can decide where she sleeps and it seems with mom and dad is her fave spot.

“We call it the family bed,” Coco told US. “We have Chanel and all four dogs.”

This obviously affects Coco’s alone time with Ice-T, adding that they “can’t be really spontaneous anymore” in the bedroom.

Chanel also apparently doesn’t have a set bedtime and is allowed to stay up late.

“We’re more of night entertainment. People have to understand, we have different times. Sometimes, I work until two in the morning. When [Ice-T’s] on tour, he’s doing a show at 12 at night. … So we transfer it a different way. Chanel gets up at 11 in the afternoon,” she said.

But Chanel will be less of a night owl when she starts school, Coco added.
