Country star Trace Adkins is in the mood to party this summer, and everybody’s invited. The baritone singing hit maker enlists Luke Bryan and Pitbull for the new track, “Where the Country Girls At,” adding another quirky country anthem to his catalog.
Featuring a lighthearted mix of country and hip hop, the track finds Adkins playing chaperone for a pair of party starters with very different styles. Described by the star as “this generation’s ‘Honky Tonk Badonkadonk,’” the new track includes booming baritone vocals from Adkins, country-boy charm from Bryan and all the relentless energy Pitbull has become known for. And according to Adkins, it’s just the beginning.
Along with the new jam, Adkins has also announced the details of his upcoming 13th studio album, The Way I Wanna Go. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of his 1996 debut, Dreamin’ Out Loud, the set will feature 25 tracks and more adventurous all-star collabs, including appearances by Blake Shelton, Snoop Dogg and Stevie Wonder (on harmonica).
The project will be produced by Mickey Jack Cones and Derek George, and is set to arrive August 27. Meanwhile, Adkins has already shared tracks like “Heartbreak Song” and “Empty Chair,” and says he’s intent on keeping his reputation for unpredictability going strong.
“I don’t know where my place is gonna be when the history of what I did is written,” he says in a press announcement. “But 90 percent of the time, I said what I wanted to say and stuck to my guns and did what I wanted to do … And, this album is as good as anything I’ve ever done.”
