Geoffrey Kent and his parents, Valerie and Colonel John Kent, embarked on a new venture in 1962 to offer a new style of luxury adventure travel, and since then, Abercrombie & Kent has established a new benchmark for upscale experiential travel. From a team of three, their expansive reach includes 2,500 dedicated travel experts spread across 30 countries ready at a moment’s notice to book one-of-a-kind premier travel experiences. They offer small group journeys, luxury expedition cruises, custom-made private travel, and their truly special ultimate private jet journeys.
Abercrombie & Kent offered its first Royal Air Tour in 1989 as Geoffrey Kent wanted to offer A&K’s clients the time-saving luxury enjoyed by royalty and heads of state when they travel (that’s why it was called the Royal Air Tour). Since then these journeys have grown to be the standard for a luxurious exclusive globetrot. For groups of no more than 48, guests can partake in an exclusive itinerary starting with traveling aboard a Boeing 757 with 50 first-class, fully lie-flat seats, and a dedicated cabin crew providing a crew-to-guest ratio of 1:7. Guests won’t have to deal with security lines and have the convenience of coming and going as they please, providing a truly flexible and unsurpassed travel experience. From an onboard executive chef catering to each travelers’ dietary needs to on-the-ground white-glove service, these tours sweep guests to lesser-known exclusive hideaways sought out by their on-the-ground local experts.
Led by the finest Tour Director and Tour Managers who curate and lead the journey, itineraries include fine dining, culturally immersive experiences, invitation-only events, and some amazing sights in remote stunning locations. These journeys will quickly make up for lost time since COVID and afford guests the opportunity to experience the places they have always dreamed of. Since restarting the journeys (they operated their last journey in February 2020, then introduced their 2021 trip in Fall 2020), Abercrombie & Kent’s private jet journeys for 2021 and 2022 have been sold out, but for 2022, they just added a second Cultural Treasures Around the World by Private Jet (May 28-June 19, 2022; 23 days from $136,000/person) and a second Wildlife Safari by Private Jet (October 6-29, 2022; 24 days from $159,950/person).
On their Cultural Treasures: Around the World by Private Jet journey, guests travel to eight countries from Taiwan to Nepal to the United Arab Emirates and more. Starting with a warm welcome in Seattle, guests are first flown to Taiwan where they pay a special after-hours visit to the National Palace Museum among other stops. Next, Nepal offers incomparable views of Mount Everest by helicopter, while Bhutan affords a glimpse into a fiercely protected traditional culture. In India, guests feast at a royal banquet and a sunrise visit to the Taj Mahal before jetting off to Uzbekistan’s Silk Road and celebrate with an open-air private concert in Samarkand’s Registan Square. Experience a private camel race and sleep under the stars at a private desert camp in Abu Dhabi before a spectacular torchlit dinner in “Little Petra” in Jordan. Last but certainly not least is a traditional opera dei pupi marionette performance and driving a vintage Italian sports car along picturesque roadways and through artisan villages
The Wildlife Safari: Around the World by Private Jet brings guests up close to an incredible diversity of Earth’s wildlife from the noble Bengal tiger and placid whale shark to the endangered mountain gorilla and playful lemur. Fly from Seattle to Japan and observe little-known species like the Japanese macaque before jetting to the Philippines to swim with whale sharks. Experience a private feeding of Borneo’s probosci’s monkey in Malaysia before searching for the Bengal tiger in Ranthambore National Park in India. Meet Madagascar’s playful primates, the lemurs in Nosy Antsoha Reserve, before a stunning encounter with the endangered mountain gorilla in the wild of Rwanda. This extraordinary journey ends with a safari in Kenya, with breathtaking panoramas in every direction and a vast range of wildlife, including the Big Five (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and Cape buffalo).
