It’s barely been six months since Megan Thee Stallion dropped her (very solid) debut album Good News, but she’s already locked and loaded to start rolling out a new project, which a betting man would probably guess will turn out to be Tina Snow 2. You’ll recall that the original Tina Snow EP was the project that helped break Meg into the mainstream, named after the alter ego she adopts (which is itself, a reference to her idol Pimp C’s Tony Snow moniker) when she wants to tap into her “pimp-ish, raw side.”
Today Meg dropped the first single, “Thot Shit,” and if it’s any indication for the rest of the project, Tina isn’t pulling any punches, doubling down on the feminist and sexualized themes that have made her music a lightning rod for controversy as her star rises, and switching up flows at a dizzying pace as she does it. She’s got shots for the men who say she only raps about sex (“Pussy-ass n-ggas hatin on me from the closet”), the women hating on her (“Hoes takin shots but they ain’t in my caliber”) and anybody who says she’s popular for her personality and brand over the music (“I’m the shit per the Recording Academy”).
But it’s the accompanying video that’s the real front page story, as the concept zeroes in on one particular hater: a performatively outraged white senator who leaves negative comments on one of Meg’s videos.. Like, perhaps, real-life Republican senator James P. Bradley, who wrote in reference to “WAP” last year that “Cardi B & Megan Thee Stallion are what happens when children are raised without God and without a strong father figure”?
The video has one eye-popping set piece after another as Meg and her posse torment the senator, taking him for a joyride via the hood of a garbage truck or twerking him into submission in a ‘50s-era diner. But the piece-de-resistance is their final bit of vengeance, which you’ll just have to see to believe. Watch the video below.
