Emerging country duo SmithField put on “Something Sexy” in their new music video, channeling one of the genre’s hottest power couples in the process.
Made up of Trey Smith and Jennifer Fielder, the rising team features smooth harmonies and a connection you can feel in each lyric — and now they’re using it to tribute some of the steamiest songs in country history.
Written by the duo with Aaron Wood, the slow-grooving standout name-checks tracks like Keith Urban’s “Raining on Sunday,” Chris Young’s “Gettin’ You Home,” Lonestar’s “Amazed,” Dierks Bentley’s “Come a Little Closer” and more, and its video brings all that romance to life.
Filmed in East Nashville by director Quinton Cook, it finds a couple letting their love burn bright and hot during a cozy night in — putting “Something Sexy” on the record player rather than going out. And it places Trey and Jennifer in the role of Tim & Faith, as they adapt a face-to-face setup from the classic “I Need You” video.
“Since Tim and Faith are the only female/male duo we mention in the song, we really wanted to play those characters in modern day,” the duo told CMT. “It is no accident that we are both in black, sing into a specific mic, sitting facing each other, and all surrounded by a candlelit room.”
The “Something Sexy” video and single are out now, and SmithField have also released popular tracks showcasing their lush harmony like “Hey Whiskey” and “If It Ain’t You.”
