Trace Adkins Readies New Album By Releasing ‘Heartbreak Song’

More than two decades after releasing his debut album, Trace Adkins is back with new music. The singer is back in the studio and preparing to release his 13th album later this year.

“There’s nothing else like it. That is still my favorite thing to do in this business: go into the studio with some lyrics and a melody and then let the finest musicians in the world help turn it into something magical. It liberates me.”

As he works on the new releases, Adkins is sharing the first song from the project, “Heartbreak Song.”

Nobody’s singing ‘bout love gone wrong / Or being as lonely as the night is long / I like a party in a truck / Every bit as much as the next guy / But come on she’s gone / And sometimes you need a heartbreak song,” the booming baritone sings in the chorus.

“‘Heartbreak Song’ is a song I’ve had in my back pocket for a few years,” shares Adkins of the song written by Greg Crowe, Johnny Garcia and Adam Wood. “I’m excited that this is the first release from my upcoming album.”

The singer also teased some exciting news about the project, sharing that some special guests will be featured.

“I also can’t wait to share some exciting new collaborations with some of the friends I’ve made throughout my career,” he explains. “Getting together with folks in the studio has been a fun way to reflect on the last 25 years and makes me look forward to 25 more.”
