Chart topping country band Parmalee just hit Number One with the big-hearted female-empowerment anthem “Just the Way” (with Blanco Brown). And to celebrate the success, they decided to do something a little different — closing out National Women’s Month in sparkling style.
Teaming with jewelry maker Kendra Scott to “surprise and delight” female healthcare professionals, the group showered 10 deserving nurses with some much-needed (and diamond-encrusted) appreciation. Judging by the video, it was a kind and unexpected gesture which really did match the positive vibes of their hit, all about loving a woman body-and-soul. But according to them, the idea wasn’t so far fetched.
“All we’ve ever wanted as a band is to write and release music that connects with people and makes them feel something,” Parmalee explains. “The entire message behind the song is that women (and people in general) are beautiful just the way they are — and honestly, I think the pandemic has helped people realize what’s truly important in life. A few of the nurses we talked to really spoke to the importance of loving and helping one another — putting aside differences to support each other. That’s the real message that needs to be shared”
Along with the piece of hand-selected Kendra Scott jewelry, the nurses also got an offer of VIP tickets and backstage passes to a future show — which if you think about it, they helped make possible, by battling COVID-19 and caring for the public for over a year. But that’s still only a small token of the thanks all frontline workers deserve.
“Just the Way” was written by Matt Thomas, Nolan Sipe and Kevin Bard, and produced by David Fanning. The Platinum-certified country-pop smash became their second Number One on Billboard’s Country Airplay chart in March, arriving a full seven years after their breakout, “Carolina.”
A pop remix featuring Brynce Vine was just unveiled, and their duet partner, Blanco Brown, is currently recovering from a near-fatal motorcycle accident. He made his first public appearance at the 56th annual ACM Awards last weekend.
