NBA Fines Kevin Durant $50,000 Over ‘Threatening’ Messages To Michael Rapaport (Update)

TSR Updatez: If you want to clap back, sometimes it’ll cost ya! Brooklyn Nets’ Kevin Durant is finding that out the hard way after some nasty exchanges between him and actor Michael Rapaport were made public by Rapaport himself.

The NBA released a statement today announcing that it will be fining KD $50,000 for using “offensive and derogatory language on social media,” according to ESPN.

Keep in mind, these were private messages posted by Rapaport earlier this week, which included what the NBA says is threatening language and anti-gay and misogynistic slurs by KD.

Kevin later apologized for the language used in the messages after having a conversation with Coach Steve Nash and others in the organization. “I’m sorry that people seen that language I used,” KD said. “That’s not really what I want people to see and hear from me, but hopefully I can move past it and get back out there on the floor.”

So it turns out the messages may have not been a joke after all.

Rapaport shared a series of messages between him and Kevin Durant on Tuesday but people were skeptical of the messages considering April Fools’ Day was just days away at that time.

“As most of you know, I receive threats and disgusting messages DAILY, but never in my wildest dreams did I think @easymoneysniper would be among them,” Michael wrote in his caption. “The (snake) himself is now threatening me, bringing up my wife, and wants to fight.”

“This is supposed to be America’s sweetheart right? KD didn’t get ‘hacked’ either. Hold this L champ #ImDaRealMVP @brooklynnets#igotastorytotell.”

It all seemed to have started when Michael tweeted about an interview KD did on NBA on TNT. The alleged messages showed Kevin sent Michael his own tweet with the message, “U a b***h.”

Then the two exchanged some words and some even accused Michael of deleting messages, misrepresenting the full conversation. You can check out the messages below:
