Clay Walker and Wife Welcome Son Christiaan Michael

Clay Walker is a dad for the seventh time, welcoming a baby boy with his wife, Jessica, in Houston, Texas, on Tuesday (January 5).

The couple announced their arrival of their new addition to People, sharing that they have named their son Christiaan Michael Walker. The newborn came in at a healthy 7 lbs., 4 oz. and measuring 20.5 inches long.

“Baby Christiaan (Germanic spelling) Michael Walker and Mama are doing great! Our whole family has been anxiously awaiting his arrival! He’s perfect in every way. He is surrounded by siblings who are constantly doting on him. I could not be more proud of Jessica and her devotion to motherhood and me. All of our children are blessed to call her mother. He will grow up a tough little cowboy Texan,” Walker said to People about the birth.

Walker explained that they named their son after his great-great-grandfather, Christian, who moved to Texas from Denmark back in 1808. They wanted to honor his legacy, as well as his heritage by giving their boy the traditional Danish spelling of the name.

The country star also recognized the strength and dedication Jessica has shown throughout the pregnancy, and honored her perspective on motherhood.

“I can honestly say that she’s a saint, and everyone around her knows it too. She absolutely loves being a mom. It’s the toughest job on Earth, and I wish there was more adoration and homage paid to mothers because there’s not a more unselfish way of life than being a mom. It’s tough. And it’s worth it,” he said to People.

The Walker family announced they were expecting back in August of 2020. This marks the fifth child the couple shares; their older children include William, 12, Mary-Elizabeth, 11, Elijah, 7, and Ezra, 3. Walker is also father to daughters MaClay, 25, and Skylor, 21, from a previous relationship.
