With a new year in full swing, Florida Georgia Line is filling fans in on what to expect in 2021 and what could potentially be changing the game.
Brian Kelley and Tyler Hubbard met up on Zoom to discuss the rundown of what’s to come, and started talking about the future of the duo in full transparency. They mentioned the release of their fifth album, coming in February, as well as their hope to get a tour together if all is safe and well to do so.
After a brief message of love and appreciation to their fans, the guys then got down to business to reveal their plans for the future may not always include each other in terms of creative endeavors. Kelley went in depth on the video call, talking about how this past year has been a time of self-discovery and how he found himself falling back in love with songwriting.
“You know, I know nobody knows this probably, but me and you have had conversations three or four years ago, and this has kind of been a lifelong dream of mine. But I kind of feel like I started writing an album once I started writing again in August and had a couple songs that I started writing that I just felt like, ‘Maybe I’m supposed to sing these and have a project, or you know, have an outlet for these to come on,’” Kelley said in regards to a possible solo project along the way.
Hubbard supported the whole idea, noting himself that they would both like to seek out collaborations or projects whenever opportunity arises, even if it means they do it alone.
“We’ve enabled ourselves to, we’ve kinda created this freedom around ourselves to kind of do whatever we want to do creatively and musically. So it’s a lot of fun,” he responded.
The two did confirm FGL is not over; they plan to still work as a duo while also balancing any solo work they want to be a part of. This comes just about a month after rumors began to swirl about the band breaking up. Nevertheless, they say they are happy to follow the creative path whatever that may be, together or on their own.
“We’re gonna still do stuff together. We’re gonna obviously be on tour and we’re going to be singing all of the hits you guys love and trying to create more. But in the meantime, it’s a beautiful time to be in a place, like BK said, to be able to venture out and to have a voice of our own and have individuality a little bit,” Hubbard explained.
Florida Georgia Line’s fifth studio album, Life Rolls On, is set to be released on February 12.
