Good News: Swae Lee’s Stolen Music Is on Its Way Back to Him

Last week, Swae Lee lost a Louis Vuitton bag at LAX. Worse, the bag contained a hard drive of Swae’s music, so he offered a $20,000 reward. Then things took a crazy turn: an Instagram account with the handle @swaeleeharddrive surfaced, a skeptical Swae invited the user to go live on Instagram, and the account owner—speaking through a voice modulator like some kind of government mole— proved he had the goods. And then the extortionate fan tried to ransom Swae’s lost goods for $150,000 or a feature with Swae and Drake.

But Swae isn’t sweating it. On the final 2020 episode of The Drop-In, he assured viewers that the hard drive was “on its way back” and that, worst case scenario, he has MP3s of the songs. “It’s like a movie, bro,” he said, chuckling at the stranger-than-fiction incident. “But I’m not really stressing. I’ve dealt with worse shit than this.”

Aside from shifting his album drop to 2021 thanks to the situation (a scenario he’s happier with anyway), Swae is spending the last days of this chaotic year playing basketball, organizing his house, and riding his bike around L.A. He’s gearing up for a “ferocious” 2021 and channeling all his pent-up energy into polishing his music for what’s shaping up to be a powerhouse album.

Watch the full episode below for more details on what we can expect from Swae’s new music, his feelings on the Grammys, and why he cut off his signature locs.
