Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump Is Representing The Family Of Ex-NFL Player Glenn Foster Jr., Who Passed Away In Police Custody

Roommates, Civil Rights Attorney Ben Crump has been hired to represent the family of former New Orleans Saints player Glenn Foster Jr., who passed away earlier this week while in police custody in Alabama. According to Revolt TV, Attorney Crump announced Friday that he would not let police use Glenn’s NFL size to justify his death.

In a statement, Attorney Crump said, “Glenn Foster Jr. was a beloved husband and the father of four children he was raising with his wife and high school sweetheart. He was a successful businessman and philanthropist. Now, he’s dead, leaving behind a broken-hearted family that is demanding answers. The portrayal of him as a large man, a former NFL football player, is a classic part of the playbook in explaining and justifying the death of a Black man by police.” He continued stating, “The fact is that he was subdued in handcuffs and posed no risk. There is no reason why he was alive in police custody, and sixteen minutes later, he was dead. We will not rest until we get answers and justice for Glenn Foster Jr. and his distraught family.”

As we previously reported, police claim that Glenn led them on a “wild police chase” before his arrest. An officer reportedly witnessed him driving at 92 MPH in a 45 MPH zone — that’s 47 miles over the limit. Chief Richard Black of The Reform Police Department said the suspect did not pull over when the witnessing officer attempted to stop him.

Instead, he claims that Glenn ducked and weaved away from the police for about eight miles. The chase ended in Gordo, a nearby town where authorities slowed him down using spike strips. During the arrest, Chief Black revealed that Glenn was wrestled to the ground to be handcuffed. Currently, Glenn’s death remains under investigation. Roommates, we’ll keep you updated as more information becomes available.
