Nominees for the 2022 Grammy Awards were announced by the Recording Academy today (November 23), revealed in a live-streamed event by a group of artists which included Carly Pearce.
Takeaways from the news are still in the making, but early observations include Mickey Guyton and Chris Stapleton sharing the lead in country categories, walking away with three nominations each, while Americana/country artist Brandi Carlile has earned five nods (including two in the same category). Jimmie Allen, currently reigning as CMA New Artist of the Year and ACM New Male Artist of the Year, is likewise singled out for his first Grammy nomination in the all-genre Best New Artist field.
Meanwhile, Kacey Musgraves was refused entry into the Best Country Album category for her latest effort, star-crossed, but ended up with two nods for Best Solo Country Performance and Best Country Song anyway. And as the feel-good story of the year continues to unfold, Walker Hayes scores his first-ever Grammy nomination for the grooving hit, “Fancy Like.”
